Contemporary Spanish Identity

The 20th century was a time of great turmoil, change and redefinition for Spain. This course examines the Spanish search for a modern identity through selections of poetry, drama, short stories, essays and film. Spain's relationship with Europe, the Franco years, changes in traditional values and roles are some of the issues considered, among others, in literature and film. PREREQ: ESPA 2005 or equivalent. (may be taken concurrently). (lec 3) cr 3. Students may not retain credit for both ESPA 3356 and ESPA 2356.
